Candlestick patterns
A candlestick pattern recognizes a shape (or sequence of shapes) in the candles and returns 1 when it appears and 0 when it does not. They are therefore boolean filters: you use them as Pattern = 1. AniQuant ships 21 patterns, kept apart from the indicators in their own section.
How they work
Each pattern is worth 1 on the bar where it occurs. They are only compared against a value (present = 1, absent = 0).
They detect the geometry of the candles, without demanding any trend context. The context is supplied by the generator, combining them with other indicators (SMA, ADX, support levels…).
The directional ones come in pairs (bullish/bearish) as two separate patterns, grouped into Bullish / Bearish / Neutral sections.

Bullish patterns
9- BullishEngulfing
Engulfing: an up candle that swallows the previous down body. - BullishHarami
Up body contained inside the previous down candle. - MorningStar
Morning star: 3 candles, bullish reversal. - Hammer
Hammer: long lower shadow, rejection of low prices. - Piercing
Piercing line: closes above 50% of the previous down body. - BullishMarubozu
Full-bodied green candle, with barely any shadows. - ThreeWhiteSoldiers
Three white soldiers: 3 rising up candles. - InsideBarBreakUp
Inside bar + break of the mother candle's high. - BullishExhaustion(N)
Exhaustion bar: down close with range > 2× mean(N) and lower shadow > 2× body. Rejection of lows (a floor).
Bearish patterns
9- BearishEngulfing
Engulfing: a down candle that swallows the previous up body. - BearishHarami
Down body contained inside the previous up candle. - EveningStar
Evening star: 3 candles, bearish reversal. - ShootingStar
Shooting star: long upper shadow, rejection of high prices. - DarkCloudCover
Dark cloud cover: closes below 50% of the previous up body. - BearishMarubozu
Full-bodied red candle, with barely any shadows. - ThreeBlackCrows
Three black crows: 3 falling down candles. - InsideBarBreakDown
Inside bar + break of the mother candle's low. - BearishExhaustion(N)
Exhaustion bar: up close with range > 2× mean(N) and upper shadow > 2× body. Rejection of highs (a ceiling).
Neutral patterns
3- Doji
Negligible body (|Close−Open| ≤ N% of the range): indecision between buyers and sellers. - NarrowRange(N)
Toby Crabel's Narrow Range: the tightest range (High−Low) of the last N bars. NR4 with N=4, NR7 with N=7. Volatility compression → combine it with a breakout. - IOI
Inside-Outside-Inside (Larry Connors): an inside candle, an outside one, and an inside one again. Compression-expansion-compression → trade the breakout that follows.
Several patterns carry a sweepable parameter: the Doji (maximum body %, classic 5), the NarrowRange (window N, 4…7 by default → covers NR4 and NR7) and the Exhaustion ones (the range mean's period). IOI and the rest have no parameter.
Where to find them
An Indicators / Patterns tab (classic style, at the bottom) switches the catalog. Selecting a pattern shows a drawn thumbnail of its shape, and the title changes to PATTERNS.
An Indicators / Candlestick patterns switch filters the grid. In the pattern view they appear grouped under ▲ Bullish, ▼ Bearish and ▬ Neutral headers, each row with its thumbnail. Tick the ones you want to combine and run.
Frequency diagnosis
The Pattern freq… button (top bar of the Mass Test) computes, on the selected symbol and timeframe, how many times each pattern fires and its % of bars. It is there to tune thresholds with evidence:
Export: every pattern is translated into EasyLanguage (TradeStation), MQL5 (MetaTrader 5) and ProRealTime (ProOrder), just like any indicator. The exported signal reproduces the internal logic exactly.
